Volunteer Program Management for Beginners

Volunteer Program Manager can be either your true job description or a bonus task (!) added to your regular workload. The role can be fun and allows you to get really creative! If you are new to this role or thinking about helping out with a volunteer program and haven't been in charge of a program before - this is for you! We will look at the following during the three hour workshop: The Cycle of Volunteer Program Management What to include in a volunteer job description What to include in volunteer orientation and training What to say in your recruiting materials  Where to find volunteers How to use technology to find and manage volunteers Each participant will be provided with: a workbook of resources and forms that can be used immediately. a list of technology sources to use in your volunteer program management.  Your Instructor:  Susan Delle Shaffette, CGMP - CEO of Team Dynamics LLC Susan has been involved with nonprofit organizations for over 30 years. She has a special place in her heart and work for grassroots groups. She is the CEO of Team Dynamics, a consulting firm that coordinates conferences and educational training for professionals and volunteers, manages membership and communication for nonprofit organizations, and has managed the full association needs for several entities. Susan and her team members have coordinated the Together We Can conference in Louisiana since its inception 16 years ago. This is a multi-disciplinary three-day annual event focused on child abuse and neglect, foster youth and child well-being. The conference averages over 625 attendees per year and over 50 workshops for child advocates, lawyers, social workers, CASAs and others during the three day event. They also utilize many volunteers – speakers, moderators, and workers! Previously Susan was the organization manager for the Directors of Volunteers in Alliance New Orleans (DOVIA) 2005-2016, where she managed the membership, financial operations, webinars, quarterly meetings and specialized training events. She is a member of both the Louisiana Children’s Justice Act Task Force (DCFS) and the CARE Committee with the Pelican Center for Children & Families. She served as Facilitator for the Louisiana Advisory Council on Child Care and Early Educationwhen it was legislatively initiated and coordinated it for several years. Susan served two voluntary terms on the National Field Service Committee for National PTA, working to develop membership tools and outreach materials for one of the largest parent engagement & advocacy membership organizations in our nation. Susan wrote The Grantwriter’s Toolkit column focused on technology tools for the Grant Professionals Association national newsletter from 2010 to 2011. Susan qualified as a Certified Government Meeting Planner through the Society of Government Meeting Planners (Certificate# 1018) in 2014 and recertified in 2017. Susan also hold a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership & Management from the Society of Nonprofits Organizations. She has worked with many additional groups through her consulting firm over the years.  FAQs How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
